The Montessori Way: Nurturing Authentic Expression in Children

Freedom of expression is an integral part of Montessori Method. It develops the child's personality in the aspects of fearlessness and articulation.

The ability to express intelligently is facilitated and supported by regular enrichment of vocabulary, at the level of sounds, at the level of structure of sentence, the role played by each word and the possible complications of spellings of words.

When these components are absorbed by the child, the flow of expression by way of writing and reading is a treat to watch.

While on the surface it seems like the focus is on getting the language, spelling and grammar right, at a deeper level this process is to facilitate the child to authentically express what he feels/thinks.

That ability has the possibility of being a cathartic process and may help develop relationships with strong sense of camaraderie/bonding.
